I had the opportunity to hang out with a couple of our coaches and their families last night after the game. It wasn’t as much an “After Party” as it was just a few families hanging out.

First of all, we are blessed to have the coaches we have here right now. They are good dudes. They are having fun, just like our players. They all respect each other and it’s very obvious in the culture we are seeing developed among our football program.

I’m not trying to share any earth shattering info and debated posting anything because I am a conservative poster but got some tidbits and comments straight from the guys who do it every day and thought you may appreciate it. I’m not going to share names either but I will say the were position coaches from both sides of the ball.

Soli wasn’t the only guy who blew chunks yesterday. The other was Burks. They think it was a reaction to the shots he’s been getting in his knee. They didn’t even know if he was going to play yesterday. He was definitely not 100%.

Coates wasn’t taking care of class work. That’s why he was left behind for MSU game. He’s a changed guy now and that shouldn’t be a problem moving forward.

Recruiting never ends. Those guys spent a lot of time texting. Recruits are fired up. Some text our coaches more than they text them.

They want guys on campus now. They are confident that if they can get kids on campus they can recruit with anyone.

They also needed the Bye Week. I’m sure they look the same after every game, but they were worn out last night. They said it couldn’t have come at a better time. They know they have a 6 game stretch to end the season and it won’t be easy.

On walk-ons playing and making plays...They have talent on this team. The next man up mentality has been strong.

They agree that Catalon is a stud but one of them didn’t think he’d make it after watching him last year.

There is a lot of teaching going on and the guys are taking it all in.

Against Ole Miss they knew they would play fast so they kept it simple. They only had 2 sets/3 calls up front the entire game.

Sam never spoke Chad’s name last week and the kids didn’t need to hear it.

Marshall is the real deal and probably the only true SEC guy they have up front.

And for all you guys who are down on Fountain, I had to ask about Special Teams. There was absolutely no hesitation in the response. “Scott Fountain is the best ST Coach in the country”. I know that won’t deter any mud slinging towards Scott but now you are disagreeing with guys who actually know.

Lastly...One said it’s pretty obvious that Boyd and probably Frank’s too, are playing not to get hurt.

Again, nothing earth shattering here but I thought I’d share.
