I have known Houston Nutt since he was a student at the UofA. I know him to be a man of high moral character and integrity. His integrity is obvious in the way he has conducted himself since all these rumors, accusations, and attacks began. It is such a shame that he and his family must endure such maliciousness from a small group of people who seen determined to ruin them.
Here is the letter from Diana Nutt:
I hope those of you we consider friends and loyal fans do not believe the crazy things that have been said about Houston and I lately. The "haters" North of us have their armies busy 24-7, attacking us and constantly blindsiding us every chance they can. It doesn't take much to generate the "mob mentality"
these days. At this point, I have lost track of the false allegations against Houston and the number of
resignation/firing deadlines that have come and gone. I know that anyone with any intelligence can see through all of this every time a new story rolls around. And NO, Houston has not had an affair with Donna
Bragg! My gosh, these liars have gone as far as to say the night my mother passed away, Houston was not there to support me. Houston has always been there for me throughout my mom's illness and her passing.
Ms. Bragg is a totally innocent bystander that they have used to fabricate more lies. The sad thing is that she is a mother who has worked VERY hard to earn a great reputation as a News Broadcaster and that is also being destroyed by these horrible liars.
This has all been pretty interesting to our kids. They are smart enough to know none of these allegations are true, but when people we thought were friends question them regarding a divorce, it makes me want to scream! We are NOT getting a divorce after almost 24 years of being married. Hey, we don't even need any counseling. I laughed and joked about that one initially ( yes, believe it or not, a coach's wife is entitled to have a sense of humor and her own opinion), but now it infuriates me that people would try to attack us in our personal relationship. Houston has always been a man of very high morals and integrity. He has always been the best father and husband
and has strong Christian values! I think it is pathetic that I am even having to address issues like this. The
perspective of these people is so distorted and ridiculous - Houston is a college football coach - PERIOD.
All he wants to do is coach ball and teach these young men how to be the best they can be on and off the field. The fact that some people don't want him here doesn't give them free reign to destroy his good reputation as a coach, father and husband.
As all of this has unfolded, we didn't even want to respond to the ridiculous accusations. We figured everyone would see there was a direct correlation with some individuals who chose to leave the U of A program following a good season. In all the years we have been here, there has never been any type of problem until this past December. I have never read message boards and am not going to get into that, I have a life and it doesn't involve that type of worthless activity. People either like you or they don't - it doesn't bother me one way or the other what they think or say about me, I do have a problem with the faceless, gutless liars that post things about others that they know are not the TRUTH!
Everyone that knows me, knows I'm not nearly as nice as my husband. I tell it like I see it and don't add much sugarcoating. And yes, I see humor in a lot of things that others don't. I generally take quite a bit that others dish out without offering any commentary and that comes from being a coach's wife for over 23 years.
I love the U of A and love living in Fayetteville. I'm thankful to have the support of a great group of friends.
