and you see why I keep saying you don't give up on Bell. He's been out of the starting lineup 11 games now, and he's been in double figures 4 of those games and is averaging more points since coming off the bench than he does on the season.

Bell with 17 big points on 6-of-10 shooting (5-of-8 from 3), 2 rebounds, including that huge offensive board and putback that got us within one possession late, and he even had a block. So much for him contributing nothing unless he is hitting shots.

This is the result of MA playing guys liberally throughout the season. Beard has been struggling for 2 straight games now, so it was nice to be able to turn to Bell.

* BP was soft as a baby's ass for the middle quarters of the game, but that block shot late, plus those two big buckets (one off an offensive rebound) are what make him the league's most valuable player. BP with 24 points, 8 boards, 1 steal, and that huge blocked shot on Thornwell late that allowed us to seal it away.

* And how about Qualls ... nothing pretty about the way he attacks, but man he keeps bringing it and gives this team some toughness. MQ with 18 points (including 4 dunks), 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.

* And Madden's night was strong, too, as he was fairly close to a triple double (9 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists).

* I was also impressed with Jacorey Williams tonight ... 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and ZERO turnovers for JW.

* Worst thing that happened was we came out smoking hot from 3 and everywhere, so we got back to playing HORSE instead of D'ing up, and we carried them to halftime with some dumb plays, and that continued the first 15 minutes of the second half.

A win like this on the road is impressive, though, because once again this team has learned a new way how to finish the right way. Anyone notice our team NEVER looked or played panicked? Tells me a lot about this group.

* Hogs are now 24-6, 13-4 in the SEC, matching the number of league wins by the 1991-92 Hogs in their first season in the SEC, which at 13-3 was good enough to win the league that year. If the Hogs take down LSU at home on Saturday, they'll match the 1993-94 champs (14-2 to win the SEC) as the only Arkansas teams to win 14 SEC games in the regular season.

* Hogs finished SEC play with a 6-3 road record, and finished the season with a 7-5 overall road record. The 6 SEC road wins is tied for best with the '93-'94 Hogs..
