It’s not every day a defensive lineman from Florida shows interest in Arkansas, but it’s three-star defensive lineman Kendall Jackson’s relationship with defensive coordinator Travis Williams that has the Hogs on his radar.
Jackson took an official visit to Arkansas over the weekend and told HawgBeat afterward he was impressed and even surprised by Arkansas.
"I wasn't really expecting everything that I'd seen," Jackson said. "The coaching staff is great, amazing coaches. Love them a lot. That one visit, they really spoke life into me."
It was Jackson’s first time in Arkansas, but he has a connection to Williams from the coordinator’s time coaching at UCF prior to taking the job in Fayetteville.
"Great coach, love him," Jackson said. "Just a great dude overall. He shows he cares more about the player. He brings them around his house more and just brings them in as family."
A native of Gainesville, Jackson has the ability to play both inside at defensive tackle and outside at defensive end.
He ended his junior season for Buchholz High School with 65 total tackles. Of those tackles, 12.5 were sacks and 22 were tackles for loss.
Jackson — 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds — has drawn the interest of the hometown Gators, where he took an official visit on June 2. He’s also got official visits scheduled for Kentucky and Miami.
