Interesting RB info (for a few reasons) and a former Hog gets cut today ...
1. With Richardson out of Oakland, with starter Latavius Murray and FA signee/3rd-down back Roy Helu both safe to make the team, with vetern pro bowl FB Marcel Reece a lock to make the team, and with 5th-year utility player/special teams back Taiwan Jones likely safe to make it, too, that leaves Michael Dyer and George Atkison III likely battling for the the practice squad.
2. Fred Jackson, 34, is still an effective, productive runner and receiver out of the backfield, but simply got caught up in an old-man-out scenario, with LeSean McCoy being the man in Buffalo and a host of younger, less expensive options on the roster to go 4-deep at the position. I bring it up because I believe Jackson would be a good fit for either the Texans (my favorite AFC team) or Cowboys (my all-time favorite pro team in any sport). If I were JJ, I'd consider keeping 4 RBs, or cutting Dunbar, who just never fits into the regular-season gameplan as much as they talk about in July and August.
3. Former Hog LB Alonzo Highsmith was released today as part of Washington's mandatory cut from 90 players to 75 -- deadline for all teams to get to 75 players is tomorrow.
The final cut down to the regular-season max of 53 takes place after final preseason games later this week
