Using sports-reference.com I looked at all NCAA D1 basketball players' stats from 1997-98 through today. Sorted by points per game and chose all players that averaged within 0.3 PPG of what Portis averaged this season, then sorted by rebounds per game and chose all that averaged within 0.3 RPG of what BP averaged, then by assists per game, etc., hoping to narrow it to one player. Found it. Most similar per-game stats to BP's in a season since 1997-98:
Bobby Portis, Arkansas, sophomore, 2014-15:
17.5 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 1.6 TOPG
Jared Sullinger, Ohio State, sophomore, 2011-12:
17.5 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.2 SPG, 1.1 BPG, 1.9 TOPG
No point in this post other than those are similar numbers.
