Thanks to everyone for the nice comments over the last few days. Just wanted to check in because I feel like it's been 2 weeks since I've done anything work related.
Everything has been great so far. They let us go home basically 24 hours after delivery so we were home by 7 or so last night. My wife's family has been here since Friday and her mom is going to stay for a week or two, so that's been a big help. Ash only slept a total of a few hours Friday and Saturday night but was able to catch up on it today, so she's feeling a lot better now. She was a real champ during labor and showed some big-time toughness that I didn't know she had.
It was weird being in the hospital during a game that I couldn't even watch on TV yesterday (by the way, you spend thousands of dollars for a 1-2-night stay, but we get a 20-inch TV from 1992 and no SEC Network -- probably the biggest rip-off I've ever experienced lol). But honestly it felt good to not even care about the game. It probably helped that it was against UT Martin, but I don't know if it would have mattered who they were playing yesterday -- the baby has had my full attention. I did try to check the score and stats every 10-15 minutes or so, though. I couldn't totally abandon it.
We named her Parker Marie. Not sure where Parker came from other than we just liked it and it's kinda different, but Marie was my mother's name and I thought it'd be cool to honor her memory.
I spend most of my time just staring at the baby now. I love watching her eat, sleep, look around, react to different noises -- it's all awesome.
Again, thanks to everyone for the well wishes, prayers, gifts, messages and everything. We are very happy and feel very blessed.
Also, that was a big-time commitment the Hogs got yesterday. I think I mentioned it in another thread but Jordan was the one we'd been waiting to see commit for almost two months. We'll see how much it helps with D'Vaughn now. Also want to mention that things are actually looking good for Kyle Porter as of late. Everyone has a different take on all of their RBs, but Porter is certainly a major, top-level guy in my opinion. Pennamon is too, despite his three-star ranking. If you can get just one of those it'd be a big get, IMO.
As far as work this week, I'm playing it by ear to make sure everything keeps going smoothly and hopefully figure out at least some sort of rhythm around here, but I'm looking forward to getting back into talking to the kids and covering the team. Y'all are nice to be understanding about this. If I have another one, I promise to have better timing with it.
