Stephen Jones and Jason Garrett went on the record today about the 2 free agents.

Jones said the Cowboys felt good about McClain's two seasons in Dallas, and that they'd be talking to his agent during the combine about re-signing him -- my guess would be another 1-year deal (maybe 2), with incentives. And it's what Garrett didn't say when asked about Hardy's future with the team that spoke volumes ... "He's a free agent" was all Garrett would say when asked, and that was apparently followed by an extended pause which was subsequently followed by a change of the subject.

With rookie DE Randy Gregory suspended the first 4 games in 2016 due to violating the NFL's substance-abuse policies, and now with Hardy apparently out, defensive end might be priority No. 1 now. Between FA and the draft, Dallas could add 1 or 2 high-impact DEs. If they go DE with the No. 4 pick, I prefer the Buckner beast from Oregon over Bosa. Secondary and LB corps are near the top of the needs list, too -- once again, Ramsey (CB/S) and Jack (OLB) would be my favorite options at No. 4. Brandon Carr is a FA, has a hefty contract that needs re-working to be retained, MoClaiborne is a FA who has not come close to living up to expectations for a No. 6 overall draft-selection, and Scandrick is rehabbing from reconstructive knee surgery. Lee (Pro Bowler) and McClain at LB have been solid, but they've missed multiple games due to concussions, and McClain missed 4 games last year for pissing hot.
