Head coach Dave Van Horn and the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team added another elite prospect to an already stacked 2023 recruiting class Wednesday.
Lefty pitcher Hunter Dietz of Calvary Christian High School in Trinity, Florida, announced via Twitter that he is committing to the Razorbacks.
Dietz became the 20th player of the Diamond Hogs' 2023 class, and he is one of 13 top-100 prospects in the class according to Perfect Game. Trinity is also the same town that Arkansas shortstop commit Aidan Miller is from, but Miller plays for JW Mitchell High School.
Standing at 6-foot-6, 230-pounds, Dietz is rated as the No. 5 left-hand pitcher prospect in the 2023 class. Perfect Game states that he is a "big southpaw with a very smooth delivery, spots a fastball up to 94 mph to go with a (slider/changeup) combination."
Dietz was a Perfect Game All-American for the 2022 All-American Classic amateur game back in August. Arkansas had seven 2023 commitments play in that game — Dietz, Miller, Dylan Questad, Ryder Helfrick, Gabe Gaeckle, Barrett Kent and Nazzan Zanetello.
MLB.com also released its new 2023 prospect top-100 rankings Wednesday and Dietz was No. 75.
Current players listed were RHP Jaxon Wiggins (No. 55) and Hunter Hollan (No. 83).
2023 commits listed were Miller (No. 12), Adam Hachman (No. 41), Kent (No. 54), Zanetello (No. 58), Walker Martin (No. 73) and Questad (No. 96)
