2007 was the last year that a top instate football player left the state to play and ultimately had a career good enough to be drafted.

Lee Ziemba 7th round

To put this in perspective, other instate kids who went to Arkansas that same year and were drafted are:

Jake Bequette 3rd round
DJ Williams 5th round

Should be noted that the 13th ranked player in the state, Charles Clay(who went to Tulsa), ended up being drafted in the 6th round.

Got to thinking about this with the recent info on Tenpenny. While we don't seem to have this issue this year, it is always worth noting that there is certainly some real truth to the thought that if a top kid leaves this state his chances of making it to the NFL likely leave too.
