Arkansas will be addressing team needs soon through the transfer portal and through the junior college ranks, hosting two junior college athletes during the Hogs' 44-20 win over Florida International on Saturday.
One of those is Dodge City Community College tight end Gregory Genross. He was on hand for the game and said the difference in facilities stood out to him.
"The visit was very nice," Genross said. "Definitely a big difference in facility-wise from JUCO. The environment was nice, the people were nice. I liked it and enjoyed it."
For Genross and most JUCO players, time is of the essence. Playing in the lower level still means they're using their eligibility to show what they have. He said because of that, he's looking for somewhere he can see the field early.
"Honestly, I'm looking for somewhere I can play," Genross said. "I'm a JUCO kid so I've only got two years left."
Arkansas seems like a place he can do just that.
"Yes sir," Genross said. "I feel I could make a lot of big things in this offense."
Genross has excelled on the field for the Dodge City Conquistadors in the last two years. He's hauled in 25 total receptions for 264 yards and three touchdowns.
So far in eight games this season he's brought in 15 receptions for 172 yards and two scores.
"I definitely had a better season than last year," Genross said. "Came in and put the hard work in. We ended up with a better record than last year."
A native of the Bronx in New York City, Genross holds offers from West Virginia, Mississippi State, Troy Houston and others in addition to Arkansas.
Arkansas extended the offer to Genross on Nov. 8.
Genross said he hasn't narrowed down his list of schools he is considering. He will enroll at his new school in January and join the team for spring practice.
