Curious what others think, but it feels like now with Rob Smith and Dan Enos, we are capable of adjusting to what the other team is doing. Yesterday on defense it seemed our guys got caught out with some of the mis-direction stuff, but even inside the first half we adjusted well to it. On offense, we didn't just run what we wanted to run, we ran plays that were designed to make their defense adjust, then we ran plays to capitalize on their adjustments.
I realize it's one game, and UTEP for that matter. But last year I felt like we got out and had success in a lot of games, then ran into a brick wall because the opponent's DC adjusted and we didn't change what we did on offense. Hence the frustrating blown leads in the second half.
I've got hope now that when we go up against Bama and Auburn, we've got a fighting chance in those coordinator chess matches.
