Arkansas has done a good job recruiting wide receivers the last few years thanks in large part to wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton, who has put the Razorbacks in good position with four-star wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman.
The Missouri City, Texas, native took an official visit to Arkansas over the weekend and had good things to say about his experience in Fayetteville.
"I really liked it," Bethel-Roman said. "I felt like part of the family here. I like the people around here. I don't really care for a big environment. Like how do I explain it? A big city? I don't really care about that. I just care about the organization and the family around it. Coach Pittman, he had it."
Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman is commonly praised for his character as a straight shooter and a relatable person, and that atmosphere of selling things straight that Pittman has built is something that stood out to Bethel-Roman.
"I think it's more because of the recruits and the commits that were here," Bethel-Roman said. "They didn't give me the run around, they just said, this is how this works, and see that you like it or you don't."
The Razorbacks hosted a large group of visitors this weekend, including seven players that are currently committed in the 2024 class. Those commits played a factor in Bethel-Roman's trip going swiftly.
"I have to say the commits and the recruits that are already here," Bethel-Roman said. "Like, they really just showed me around like no other school had."
Bethel-Roman is the son of former NFL safety Mark Roman and former LSU track star Ashley Bethel-Roman.
After previously taking visits to Texas Tech and Oregon, Bethel-Roman is close to making a decision on his future as he is set to make his commitment on July 4 at 4 p.m. CT. Bethel-Roman said Arkansas is "definitely" in the mix for his pledge.
Arkansas has two other high school wide receivers committed in the class of 2024 in four-star Courtney Crutchfield and three-star CJ Brown. The 2024 recruiting class currently is ranked No. 22 in the nation on Rivals and it has 12 total commitments — one of which is three-star defensive tackled Dion Stutts, who died in an ATV accident on June 12.
