We all know that the NBA is about to do away with the 1 and done rule and that the G-League has become a better alternative to college than it used to be. However, the NCAA has also voted to allow players to receive money for their likeness and image. This essentially means they can get paid for signing autographs, merchandise, video games, and endorsing products and organizations. The NCAA is a much larger market than the G-League (which still doesn't pay most players much).
I think the NCAA will be more profitable to kids that are good enough for the G-League out of high school, but not the NBA. Also, this could keep players in school longer like back in the 90's and earlier.
