A few humble questions for the board on a base 4-3-4 defensive formation:
Regarding how the formation lines up - are the SS, Sam LB, SDE, DT (over the G), and field CB on the same side of the formation - matching up against the strong side of the offensive formation? If that's the case, are the FS, Will LB, WDE, and boundary CB lined up on the weak side of the offensive formation? Finally, will the NG be lined up over the C with the Mike LB roaming free in the middle?
I haven't really followed how the different positions have evolved over the past several years, and am asking for honest responses to help catch up on how these positions are lined up and how coaches are shifting players around to match their respective skill sets.
