Did some digging earlier and made some phone calls to some Auburn folks I know. Gus' mediation/firing plans are being put in place. 99% chance they reach a deal immediately after the Bama game (assuming they lose). There will be no language in the buyout that says he has to seek employment elsewhere, nor will the buyout payment stop after he finds employment. I'm sure there is a lump sum he can take, but I've heard that Auburn and Gus have cut the "firing" cost down to half what he'd be owed for being fired without cause ($27M). So, he'd be looking at a $13ish million dollar buyout, paid for by Auburn, and most likely scooping up a job like FSU, Arkansas, etc. and be making $4mill a year on top of his buyout. I don't have a pulse on what the BoT is doing this time around, but I know there are still folks there, boosters, etc. that have feelings for Gus. Do no be surprised to hear that Gus is in the running, regardless of what you think the fan base will think. Honestly, if FSU makes their move on Kiffin before we do, I think Gus is our 2nd option. Proven track record, won a natty as an OC, Arkansas connections, knows how to recruit the south, can bring in top assistants, etc. AND NO BUYOUT will have to be paid by us. Saves our powers quite a bit of money and time, as we can get Gus on board the weekend after Thanksgiving and get the Gus Bus rolling.
