I want to wish all my HawgSports brethren a happy, healthy, prosperous 2013! This month was my 11th year on this board. 11 years. I have lived all over the country. Fayetteville, then Little Rock, then Kansas City, then Fort Myers, FL, then Canton, OH. Through it all, I have relied on this board, Trey and Danny especially, for all of my Hog information. You don't get much Razorback news in Ohio, unless we are blowing the game against them, then it's all I hear about for 6 months. That was a tough time for me at work.
I think back on all the things that have happened to me in the past 11 years. I graduated from the U of A, got married, graduated from Pharmacy School at UAMS, lost my brother by an impaired driver, saw my wife graduate medical school, had 2 beautiful children, and recently finally moved back home to Arkansas. It has been a long trip. I've been on this board long enough to have seen almost everything you can think of. I've seen "insiders" come and go (some of them go down in flames.) I've seen every coaching search imaginable. From the Nutt mess, to Grobe backing out, to somehow landing Petrino in the middle of the night, to the disaster last April to the amazing staff we have in place now. Not to mention the basketball disastrous decade with the Stan Heath experiment, Dana Altman's awkward hog call and subsequent flight back to Nebraska, Pelphrey never getting it done, and then getting Mike Anderson back home. I remember defending my hometown guy Cedric Houston til I was blue in the face, to no avail. I still hear the same arguments today. In real life, however, it's not the end of the world. It's just something that us fanatics type about on the computer. I remember McFadden's love for the Hogs and never wavering. I remember the Mustain saga, the commitment, the decommitment, the recommitment, the starter, the backup, the transfer, the collapse. I remember OLDHOGMAN'S ALL CAPS TIRADE ON TREY!!! This season was incredibly tough on all of us, and tempers flared at times. We all wanted the same thing, but we just didn't all have the same ideas of how to get there. Luckily for us, Jeff Long is the one making the decisions, because I don't think anybody could have planned this the way it has ended up.
I'm so happy that we all seem to be on the same page at the moment. I know it won't last forever, but right now, in this moment, ALL hog fans are behind Coach Bielema and this amazing staff he's putting together. We have hope of a dominating SEC defense and offense, which is something we have not had in quite some time, if ever. I was doubtful that it would come together like this, but Jeff Long proved me wrong.
I just want to say thank you to all of you for making this board the greatest Razorback board on the interwebz. We don't agree on everything, but we are like a dysfunctional family. Again, everyone have a great new year and Go Hogs! #WPS
