The first day of Arkansas' 2015 football camp is in the books, and there is a sense of confidence among the older players along with some intriguing younger players drawing attention, as well.

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema has decided not to hold two-a-day practices this summer. In the past the NCAA has allowed for teams to hold two-a-days on non-consecutive days. Bielema feels his players are experienced enough and in shape enough that two-a-days will be more of a drain on them than anything.

"I was talking to Keon [Hatcher] during one of the breaks, and we both felt like this was a good day," senior tailback Jonathan Williams said following practice. "We didn't go out there and start fast and end slow. I feel like that's what we did last year during the games, and we tried to work on that."

Personnel-wise, the offense returns seven multi-year starters (eight including back-to-back 1,000-yard rusher Alex Collins). The defense returns six starters total. But there are some newcomers who are expected to help with each group on both sides of the ball other than the offensive line and at quarterback.

"We have a lot of proven leaders on our team now. We have a lot of people that have been in this system, been here a while, been through the ups and the downs of this program," senior quarterback Brandon Allen said. "A lot of young guys knew what they were doing for the most part. Still have got to get in the playbook for the first day I think it went well."

New receiver targets

One player many are watching is junior college transfer Dominique Reed. At 6-3, 180, Reed is a long receiver with jets. He caught the ball naturally and showed great athleticism, though the team was only in helmets, shirts and shorts.
