Players reported that Thursday's practice, the seventh of the 2015 Razorback camp, was sluggish, and they could be facing a change in Friday's schedule.
Head coach Bret Bielema made the decision earlier this summer not to hold two-a-days because he said he had such a veteran team that does things the right way, he wants to keep them fresh for the season. But he always said he reserved the right to change his mind if the team wasn't doing what he wanted every day out… - See more at: https://arkansas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1792108#sthash.LEUBtu9O.dpuf
It is not clear if Bielema will schedule a two-a-day on Friday or if he will just move the (approximate) 9:15 a.m. practice to a later time, but that information should be released by the UA sometime Thursday evening.
"He basically said we've earned a revamp of the schedule tomorrow," junior right tackle Dan Skipper said. "We just came out sluggish and slow and all across the board we didn't execute like we need to up front…Every day it's about refocusing and going out there with everything you have and being the best that you can be. That's the part of mental aspect of mental and physical toughness."
Skipper, who said the right hand he injured last season is perfectly fine now, also said when his weight got down to 307 pounds in the spring it was because he got food poisoning right around the time they did weigh-ins and lost 20 pounds. Skipper lost 11 pounds last Saturday in triple digit temperatures and got a little overheated. He said he currently weighs 338 pounds, so he did add some weight in the off-season.
Gibson playing physical
Redshirt freshman left tackle Johnny Gibson worked his way up to the second team in the spring and has held that position through seven camp practices. The walk-on drew some praise from Bielema on Sunday and offensive line coach Sam Pittman said Gibson has just surprised everyone on Wednesday.
"I was just ready for the camp and to go out there and play as hard as I can," Gibson said. "Coach Pittman, he gives us two goals at the beginning of the camp, and my first goal was 'be a physical guy,' and I just took that to heart. I knew I could be more physical."
