FAYETTEVILLE — The No. 1 Arkansas Razorbacks (23-3, 8-1 SEC) are set to host in-state foe Arkansas State for a midweek matchup at Baum-Walker Stadium on Tuesday following a sweep over the No. 8 LSU Tigers over the weekend.

The matchup between the Hogs and Red Wolves will be the fifth midweek game for Arkansas, which owns a perfect 4-0 record in the bouts. This will also be the third game against a Natural State opponent, as the Razorbacks have already defeated Central Arkansas and Little Rock this season.

"We haven’t seen them in a while, so it’ll be kind of new for us as well," head coach Dave Van Horn said on Monday. "We just want to play. Hopefully the weather holds off or gets out of here and we get a chance to play tomorrow night. Because there’s three or four position players I really want to get in there, and obviously there are some pitchers that really need to throw."

Since 1960, Arkansas is 18-2 overall against in-state teams which includes a 5-0 record against Central Arkansas and UAPB, a 3-0 overall record against Arkansas State and a 5-2 overall record against Little Rock.

The Razorbacks, who are 19-1 inside the friendly confines of Baum-Walker Stadium this season, ride a program-record 17-game home winning streak into Tuesday night’s showdown against Arkansas State.

After starting their season with an 8-0 record — including a midweek win against Ole Miss on Feb. 21 — the Red Wolves have limped to a 16-14 (3-6 Sun Belt) overall record. Arkansas State is coming off a series loss to Georgia Southern in which it lost the first two games by a combined score of 17-2 before picking up a 6-3 game three victory.

"I don’t know a whole lot," Van Horn said. "The other coaches are working on those scouting reports. We’ll go back over them Tuesday. I follow their scores. There’s been a lot of games where there have been a lot of runs scored. Sometimes they do, sometimes it’s the other team. It’s an in-state school. You can throw the records out a lot of times. They’re going to give us all we want."

Arkansas will start left-hander Colin Fisher on Tuesday for the fifth time this season. Up to this point of his freshman campaign, Fisher has excelled with a 2.50 ERA, 20 strikeouts, five earned runs, three walks and 18 hits in 18 innings pitched. Van Horn went on to comment on other pitchers that could see time on the mound against the Red Wolves as well.

"(Ben) Bybee will pitch," Van Horn said. "I’d like to get a bunch of them work. I know we probably won’t get to pitch them all. First we’ve got to try to win the game, but we also want to get some guys in if we can."
