I am ashamed

Not for being 1-2 and looking bad doing it, though it certainly isn't a fun place to be.

I am ashamed of Hog fans. Though I know bi-polar and sports fans go together like meat and potatoes, we take it to a new level. It appears to be passed on from generation to generation too. We smooch that butt like lapdogs one minute and turn like rabid dogs the next. It's not enough to gripe about lousy play, we have to make it personal. Not enough to be unhappy, somebody(players/coaches) has to pay.

Everybody but a very few loved CBB two weeks ago. Loved his outspoken demeanor, his bluntness, and his no apologies style. Now, he is an idiot, a blowhard, a loser, a jerk, etc. And the guys that didn't like him before are gloating like their team won. Weird.

Sad thing is, if we miraculously went on a roll and won out, everybody would forget what they said and defend him to the death(or the next bad loss). We have what 16-18 starters back next year? If that team jells(1975,1977,1988-89,1998, 2006,2010-11) and wins big, all of the horrible stuff will be like it was never said as far as the fans see it. Saw it with Hatfield and I saw it with Nolan. Problem was, the objects of the ridicule and hatred don't forget so easy. The initial efforts to pile on and make them even more miserable for being so inconsiderate as to have a bad season here has worked in the past and will likely work again. History repeats itself.

So, at this point, we might be well served if CBB doesn't turn it around and gets fired. If he does turn it around, he will have no reason to spurn other jobs due to his bond here. We do a fine job of burning those bridges to the ground. Butt kissing, as in the past, will be too little too late.

Before I get the customary "goes with the job", "much as he makes he should expect it", and so on and so forth, I already get that. I also get that there is another side to it and it takes it's toll and it is not simply forgotten just b/c the fans suddenly say, "never mind" when the tide turns.
