Recruiting in the trenches is the lifeblood of most college football programs, and while the Razorbacks need immediate help, it's important to build depth through the high school ranks as well.

Arkansas hosted its first Prospect Day of the year last weekend, and one in-state offensive lineman in particular was impressed by the visit.

Ryan Nolan, who plays offensive tackle for Joe T. Robinson in Little Rock, told HawgBeat he enjoyed the visit overall, and said he liked the "home" environment in Fayetteville.

"Obviously these other schools try to put their best foot forward, but you can't really do nothing like Arkansas, man," Nolan said.

Nolan, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 345 pounds, said he was specifically impressed with new offensive line coach Eric Mateos.

"Man, honestly, Coach Mateos is a really amazing guy," Nolan said. "What really stood out to me is, when we were talking, outside of football, he said he likes to keep it chill, cool as a real person, but whenever it's time to play football, he's all about business."

Right now, Nolan holds an offer from Michigan State and is being noticed by several SEC teams like Auburn, South Carolina, Indiana and others.

Growing up an Arkansas fan, Nolan said it would be awesome for him to earn an opportunity to put on a Razorback helmet. He said he's excited to continue building relationships with the coaching staff.

"They told me they like to build relationships, and this is the start of building that relationship," Nolan said. "So I'm going back up there for a spring practice, and then obviously camps so I can get that offer."
