Plenty of reasons why, and I will die on this hill if need be, but Kiffin is my guy (and HY's guy):

Lane and HY have a good relationship, even though they couldn't get a deal worked out at Houston. Lane wanted that job, and HY wanted Lane to have that job.. one thing, though.. Fertitta and UH powers weren't keen on the language that Lane wanted in his contract regarding buyout and incentives. HY had his hands tied at UH, due to Fertitta (Houston's Jerruh Jones) being in his ear. They decided to let Lane walk, and hired Applewhite. Applewhite was axed within the first two years and had TURRRRIBLE buy out language in his contract.. something that Lane was smart enough to want to change/felt it wasn't worth taking on that risk at UH.

Some of y'all know this, but don't know the details.. Lane was about as close to becoming the Hogs head coach in 2017, as one can get. Not Dana Altman close, but almost. We had JCP, Chancellor, committee, etc. handling our hiring in 2017. Lane waited for them to draw up his contract, asked for revisions on two different occurrences, and finally got fed up enough to walk away.. leading to Hogs turning to their plan B.. Morris. The WANT TO is there for Kiffin. He wants to be on the Hill, and that is no secret. He was ready to drop everything in Boca and move to Walmart, AR.

Now, we have HY (the guy who wanted to hire Kiffin/Kiffin wanted to work for at UH) and Kiffin (the guy that wanted to be a Hog to begin with) and a job opening for the HC of the Razorback football team.

Kiffin's buyout is $1.5mill. Easy to cover that. It is roughly half of what the cheapest buyout of other popular coaches (Harsin, Norvell, etc.) are currently sporting.

Chad has (rumor) supposedly taken a mitigated buyout, which will help relieve us of some financial burden.

Kiffin is 7-3 this year, with a chance to win these last two games and finish 9-3. 9-3 is going to get him in a meaningless bowl, and he will be ready to bounce to his new job the Friday after Thanksgiving. The same can't be said for a lot of the guys we are going after.

I've heard a million things in the past 2 weeks, and the majority of them are all pointing to Kiffin. It just makes sense. Offer him $3mill a year or whatever. He is making less than a Mill at FAU. It is time. Lettuce do the dang thing, and bring Joey home.
