Scroll to Section 2 (b).
Don't know how many have seen this, but this would abolish the AAA in 2016-2017. It gives the State 2 years to set up an association that is governed by the Dept of Education or another agency. Given the fact the AAA has $4 million in reserves, this could be a viable option for the State to govern athletics. This has happened in a few other states in the past 5-6 years. In each case, the State ended up with some type of control over interscholastic athletics. If the State is "footing the bill", which public schools account for over 3/4's of the revenue of the AAA, they should have some control. As it stands now, there is no accountability. This bill has a lot of support. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
