Not sure if there's already a thread on this. Baseball season starts this Friday. I have to admit that I'm a football, then basketball, then baseball guy and it takes me a little while to get familiar with the team again. But I always have such a damn good time following them, especially in April, May and June.
DVH had the preseason presser the other day. A few tidbits:
- I'd read posters on here say that McKinney and Taccolini would not be healthy until later in the season. That appears to be false as both are good to go and DVH said they would be weekend starters if the season began today. That is huge.
- Also, interesting that DVH says that true freshman, Blaine Knight, would likely be a weekend starter if the season began today.
- That puts Zach Jackson back in the bullpen, which is a great luxury to have.
- James Teague who started a good bit for us, and was a long reliever is currently out with arm soreness.
- Pennell looks like that starter at C. He was pretty poor at the plate during the regular season, but I seem to remember him turning it on in the postseason.
- Bernal and Nomura return at SS and 2nd. I have no clue who will play 1st or 3rd.
- According to the article linked below, Eagan is moving to CF and will likely start off batting 3rd. Bonfield and freshman Eric Cole are looking like the LF and RF.
- Obviously, we need Bonfield to make a huge jump to help the offense.
- Other regular players from last year returning - Shaddy, Beninghoff, Spanberger, Gassaway, Alberius
