Went up to Next Level Achievements (old All Star Sports Arena in Springdale where the Wings are based) for a tournament my kid was playing in. Malik came up to support one of the Wings teams. The Wings Elite team wasn't playing. I was talking with a Bentonville coach and he came up. I talked briefly with him about Bentonville's season this year, and he talked about his expectations to win the state championship next season. We joked about an assistant coach that has been at Bentonville since I played there about 10 years ago, and talked about Marcus for a little bit. I didn't want to talk anything about any potential schools because I know he gets that all the time.
During that time, dozens of kids came up and requesting pics with him and told him that they hoped he would be a hog. He was extremely humble considering he was asked to take (and I'm not kidding) over 75 pics with young kids and was smiling the whole time.... of course my kid wanted their picture taken with him too. His celebrity status with people from all ages in NWA could easily be too much to handle for a 16 year old kid, but he handles it with as much class as you will see, especially with young kids.
