Mallett and DMAC are fan favorites, for now ...

it's interesting to read the fan blogs for Houston and Dallas this week. Seems like 100% of Texans nation is excited about Mallett as the starter at QB, and I was surprised that 80ish% of the Cowboys' bloggers I read wanted DMAC in the starting lineup over Randle. I actually agree with them, but I thought it was because I'm the biggest DMAC fan in the world, and thus biased.

One fan said Mallett was the most exciting player Houston had on offense in a long time (did he forget about Arian Foster?). Others were saying the receivers on the team prefer Mallett. To a fan, the consensus is they don't know what they have with Mallett long-term, but they are encouraged he might be the future, and they feel better about their chances to win games with him at the helm.

Arian Foster returned to practice Thursday -- on a limited basis -- for the first time since having groin surgery. If he can be ready to play in a couple of weeks, that is going to be huge for Mallett and the Texans.

Cowboys fans, going back to the Vikings preseason game and including the Giants game, are saying DMAC looks like the better runner compared to Randle, and that they KNOW he is the better blocker in pass-pro ... they mostly expressed wishes for him to get the start against Philly.

I'm still having a hard time understanding why DMAC played so little in a close game in the opener if he was healthy and expected to be a big part of the offense. For one, Randle did not dazzle -- he was solid, but nothing special. The real star out of the backfield was Dunbar, who looks like a weapon in the mold of a Sproles, Bernard, or Vereen. I'm good with Dunbar's increased role on the team, but I'm hoping DMAC gets more opportunities in Philly to really see what he can do in that offense.
