I know we are stuck with CBB for several years to come most likely. But Hudspeth is a guy I wish we could give a look at hiring. He's young (46 yo) and from the south (MS).
At N Alabama (first HC gig), he got his team to the tournament 5 of his 7 years, 2 quarterfinals and 3 semifinals. His overall record at NA was 66-21 (45-15). 13 of those losses came in his first 3 seasons. After that, he had 11, 11, 10, and 12 win seasons. After that, he spent 2 years as a WR coach/passing game coordinator at Miss St.
In 2011 he took the HC job at Louisiana Lafeyette. The four seasons before he got there, they went 18-30 and didn't make a bowl game. In fact, as far back as 2002 (ESPN page for LL) they've only had one season (05) where they won more than they lost (6-5) and hadn't made a bowl game ever. In his 4 years there, he's gone 37-16 (24-7) and won all 4 of the bowl games he's brought them (beating Nevada, ECU, Tulane, and SDSU). They're 1-1 on the year in 2015, losing by 7 at Kentucky 33-40. They out gained and out possessed UK and if not for 4 TO's, they win that game.
Overall the guy has a 103-37 coaching record, with a conference record of 69-22. He runs a balanced O that scores a lot of points, has a good recruiting reputation, and is a consistent winner. Just food for thought as we suffer through this current, crappy season.
