Just a few rambles about the experience at the Big House yesterday:
1. They care about football. A lot.
2. The treatment of opposing fans is at a level I have never witnessed at a sporting event ever.
3. The scoreboards have text versions of everything. The sound at RRS is so bad its hard to translate anything, especially the videos before the game that sets the tone. Nice touch.
4. Every big play or moment has a fired-up video of a current player challenging the crowd.
5. They actively recruit the crowd to donate to NIL and throw the QR code up on the big screens.
6. They pass out maize pom poms and everyone uses them. Looks unbelievable in person.
7. Rarely do they bother with on-field presentations. They have a DJ and they use him.
8. They have upgraded the lights just like every other significant program.
9. The bathroom situation is unacceptable. It took all of halftime plus 10 minutes of the 3rd quarter.
10. It was magnificent to be at a game of significance in late November.
11. They honored 26 6th,5th, and 4 Year players
I am afraid we just don't care about football in the new age of NIL. There is no doubt that the Michigan head coach wasn't on the sideline and the perceived reasons why. But, based on the scoreboard messages like " Coach Harbaugh Can't Hear You"....etc, etc,......They just don't care about all that. We can lay claim to the high ground, but it was some type of spectacle.
