VIDEO COMING SHORTLY

  • Arkansas has has added two walk-on players in DaShaun Stark and Jake Moisman. Stark is a 6-5, 185-pound guard out of Springdale (Ark.), and Mosiman is a 6-0, 185-pound junior guard out of Lawrence (Kan.). Stark is not eligible to play during the season as he is a transfer.
  • During the Red-White Scrimmage, Anderson said he felt sometimes players were holding the ball too long trying to figure out how to score.
  • Anderson said they'll press some and work on half court defense, as well. He wants his team to be a multiple defensive team. He wants to see how some rotations look, also. He also said to expect everyone to play. He said he likely won't sub five for five so he can continue some continuity. But he's also an instinctive coach and might do that.
  • Anderson said they took a day off after the Red-White game, so today is their first day back to practice since then. He said he doesn't know exactly who will start, but he can pencil in Anthlon Bell and Moses Kingsley. Then he said one of the two between Keaton Miles and Trey Thompson. He also said he may mix the starting lineup in the second half.
  • In a scrimmage where they brought in some officials, Kingsley had 35 points and 13 rebounds. Anderson said 'he wants it,' but at the same time he's letting the game come to him. Anderson said Kingsley and former Razorback Bobby Portis were like brothers, and Kingsley saw what Portis did to become the player he has become. Anderson said he's shot more shots than anyone, probably, in the off-season.
  • Anderson said he's just looking forward to seeing them play someone other than themselves. From a coaching standpoint, it gives them a chance to play under the lights. He said they're not playing this Arkansas team, they're playing Arkansas' tradition, so they're going to get Southwestern Louisiana's best shot. He said he told his players that this is their audition to show what they've got.
  • Bell is becoming more of a leader. Michael Qualls told Bell that he has to be a vocal leader now. Bell isn't really a big talker but has made big strides. With young guys who haven't played, they can get flustered easily and early, so it's up to older players to be leaders.
  • Anderson said it may be erratic as they start out, but it's going to be a progression as they get better. He said his teams typically start out like that.
