Arkansas had practice on Monday afternoon to prepare for the LSU Tigers and the media was let in to view three periods of action for around 20 minutes total. The team practiced indoors with the weather being partly cloudy and outside in Fayetteville.
Here are a few takeaways and tidbits from what I was able to see:
Monday practice takeaways (9/18):
~ Arkansas practiced in spiders on Monday afternoon inside the Walker Indoor facility. As per usual, it was a shortened practice with just three periods of individual drills.
~ The big news was the fact that junior running back Rocket Sanders practiced for the first time since prior to the Western Carolina game in Week 1. Sanders has been nursing a left knee injury, and head coach Sam Pittman said Monday that Sanders' availability for this weekend is still up in the air.
~ Players not participating at practice were DT Tank Booker, OL Eli Henderson and OT Luke Brown. That list doesn't include those who are out for the year: DB Quincey McAdoo, OL Terry Wells and WR Sam Mbake.
~ It's worth noting that OT Devon Manuel (stinger) and DB Dwight McGlothern (turf toe) were both practicing and didn't seem limited.
~ I want to write that the team practiced with more urgency or they looked fired up, but I didn't get that vibe. It seemed like business as usual to me today, which could be good or could be bad. To me, they just had a bad game mentally against BYU. I think this team is still very talented, but they can't beat the opponent and themselves.
~ There really wasn't a whole lot else to say about Monday's practice. Nobody unexpected was not participating and all they did was individual drills, which we've seen over and over again since the start of fall camp.
