  • Gragg said he has gone from 258 pounds from arrival to 245 now and looks more cut up. They challenged him to 'lose the baby fat.'
  • He's been working both the Y and the F tight end spots after only working the Y in the spring. They have not yet installed the XZ position at tight end.
  • Junior tight end Jeremy Sprinkle turned 21 today, but there will be no partying tonight, he said. He said he likes the personalities and attitude of the younger players who just joined the team.
  • Junior tailback/fullback Kody Walker said the coaches told him to play around with his weight and get to a weight where he feels comfortable. He ranged from 240 to where he is now at 260. He has played as low as 235 at Arkansas. He likes his weight at 260 and feels he has added power and still has his speed and quickness.
  • Walker said he's focusing on the ins and outs of fullback right now but splits his time 50/50 at fullback and at tailback.
  • Senior receiver Keon Hatcher said the weather was nice today and there was a nice little breeze. The energy was good, he said.
  • Hatcher said he just works on polishing up everything after being here for over three years.
  • Regarding sophomore quarterback Austin Allen, Hatcher said he feels he can step in for them if needed.
  • Sophomore guard Frank Ragnow said former Hog Bobbie Williams spoke to the team and spoke to them about 'turning on the switch' when they take the field, and he said they can be a big Hog, but they have to have the footwork or it doesn't matter.
  • If something were to happen to center Mitch Smothers, Ragnow would likely move inside, but he wasn't sure of what they will do exactly if that were to happen. He said he and Sebastian Tretola would run with the tight ends a lot instead of the other offensive linemen.
  • Austin Allen said he's preparing like a starter this year and is going to be ready for that moment if it comes. He said he has a lot more zip on his ball, but he doesn't know anything about adding 10 yards to his deep ball or anything. He said he really enjoys Dan Enos's (the offensive coordinator) and how everything just flows together.
  • Sophomore receiver Jared Cornelius said he's playing faster than he did last year. Cornelius is the starter at Z and F receiver when they go to three-wide. Knowing the game and the offense has been the biggest areas of improvement for him.
