Is not really with his coaching per se. I think this year he proved he can do a lot with a little. The real gut wrentcher on him is why do we "have so little". We didn't reload as they say we held on to rebuild this year. The toughest question Mike could ask himself (and he is showing he is not tough enough to ask it) is "do I have the absolute best set of coaching and recruiting assistants money can buy?" If Mike is as tough as he needs to be to win big he can face the answer and fix it. If he can get a 10% better staff by cleaning house and replacing them all including TJ Cleveland he should do it. The difference in winning and losing is so narrow you have to be ruthless in your decisions. Thats my beef with Mike. of course those assistants aren't my buddies or in-laws they are his. No teams EVER come after one of his assistants. There is a reason for that. Kenny and Hootie and many others have had the same attitude toward assistants here and other places. More often than not it ends up being fatal and in the end the school, the fans, the players and the coach himself all end up with less than they should have had. The only winners are the assistants who were out of their depth in a high profile program and got paid more money than they could have possibly made on their own. Its an ADs nightmare really that he can't fix because the principled coach will leave instead of doing everything humanly possible to win including replacing his buddies with someone better. There is a reason the tough SOBS make the hall of fame and the softies don't. Personally I like him but Mike is Mike and I don't think he is going to change.
