DE Dorian Gerald- Sr. I like this guy to be an impact next year with someone pushing him. He got here late and never really got his legs under him. I feel like is a very important piece to this team because we need to get pressure off the edges. The best Chavis Defenses have always been able to get pressure off the edges while mixing in timely blitzes. So Dorian is such an important piece to this puzzle because he needs to become a rush end and create pressure on the qb.

DE Jamario Bell- RS Sr. we have waited and waited through tons of injuries and has struggled to stay healthy, but with his 6'5 frame and long arms he has never really emerged not entirely his own fault. He has a lot of bad luck with injury but for him to find playing time this next year he needs to emerge as a pass rusher.

DE- Gabe Richardson- RS Sr. had a few moments where he made a few plays this year, look for him to play but as the year goes on and the young guys get acclimated he will probably just be a spot player.

DE- Alexy Jean-Baptiste- RS. Jr. Honestly could be one of the guys that is a transfer candidate (nothing personnel)

DE- Courtre Alexander-RS Fr. at 6'5 and a year in the weight room he is someone that I kinda look to emerge and hoping he can help for sure.

DE- Nick Fulwilder- RS Fr. at 6'7 260 he gives the length with his arm length that can provide a solid 5 technique who can log in the zone teams and hammer people inside and give qbs a nightmare to have to throw over. I look for him to be a player for us this year.

DE- Mataio Soli- Fr. Explosive on film quick first step good, technique with his hands and pad level. He will provide something that we just haven't had and coming into the year many though Randy Ramsey could be. The big difference is Soli wants to be here and should provide a solid pass rush for us and play-making ability off the edge.

DE- Eric Gregory- Fr- His hands arrive first on all his clips and that shows has been well coached in his high school career. He has film of him being both inside and outside and at 270 he can do both. He seems to finish well upon arrival.

DE- Zach Williams-Fr- Will benefit by getting up there early and adding some weight. I love his explosion off the edge and could POTENTIALLY become a Will Linebacker someday if needed, but I really feel for sure in his freshman year if he adds strength and keeps his explosion a definite rush end because of our lack of none of them on campus as of right now.

DE- Collin Clay- Fr. Perfect fit for what we are doing on film this kid has a high motor, plays with good technique and is nasty at the finish. Seems to be another playmaker that we are bringing to the hill. Great upper body violence and has big time athleticism for a kid his size. On film the one thing I really watched on him was his head placement, so you can see where he eyes are looking and he doesn't seem to be a guesser, he seems to be an attacker.

DT- McTelvin Agim- Sr. He comes in having had an up and down career, he has made a lot of plays but there are times you just don't hear from him. Some of that isn't necessarily his fault, up till this year with Armon Watts we haven't had much production from the front. Agim has had to move inside and outside his whole career. He body type and skill set scream 3 technique and if we actually can get others to step up and become outside rushers then he won't see many double teams. I also look for him to be used as a 5 technique some especially against heavy zone teams.

DT- Jonathan Marshall- RS Jr. Has the size and at times has shown up and made a few plays. This his RS Jr year he needs to have a break out year with the talent coming to the hill he could get lost in the shuffle .

DT- Briston Guidry- RS Jr. Was having a great season this year up to when the injuries started happening. I look for him to emerge as a big piece to the puzzle this year and if he stays healthy he is my pick to have an Armon Watts breakout type season. Can play either the 3 technique or even in pass situations be used as a 1 technique to win the A gap.

DT-TJ. Smith- RS. Sr. I see him as the starting 1 technique this year because he has been most of his career and should have a solid season and we need him to. Our interior guys have to start being violent and forceful kids and starting winning some games up front. and TJ isn't a super star or play-maker but he is a steady Eddy and we need him to keep on being just that.

DT- Isaiah Nichols- RS Fr. I like his game and he benefited from the new redshirt rule. Got some experience and still kept his redshirt and I really like him in the interior.

DT- BJ Ferrell- RS Fr. Didn't see him any this year, but should fill the roll of a Nose (1 technique) and hope his strength is there to be a two gap defender, certainly has the size

DT- Tauren Carter- Fr. Love his motor and is the 3 technique of the future on this team. He will play some this year without a doubt but I could see him being one of those guys like Nichols that benefits from 4 games and redshirts. Only reason I say that is he is behind Guidry, Agim for that 3 technique kid.

DT- Enoch Jackson-Fr. Could see playing time this year because I think he may be better than anyone we have on campus as a 1 technique two gap defender. I think this kid is sneaky good and has flown under the radar in recruiting rankings. He will make a name for himself in the SEC, just because I see the talent on film and I feel his work ethic will follow. You can watch film on kids and tell if they are lazy by the way the get off the ball and he doesn't have that problem.

LB's ( A real need of depth here) very thin.

Mike DeJuan Harris- Sr.- guy has lead the SEC in tackling the last two years. He makes plays and he a great leader at the Mike backer. So not much more can be said about him that hasn't already been said before.

Mike- Andrew Parker- RS Fr- Love this kid and am very excited to get him in the mix.Fought injuries all year and redshirted but I felt like that kid was a sleeper last year and I really believe in what he brings to the table.

Will- Bumper Pool- So- Think his kid will be a big time player for us this year and will make a whole lot less mistakes because of experience. He showed last year he was a play-maker and a solid tackler. He just wasn't Dre Greenlaw and for good reason. However, he benefited from learning by fire and he will be an elite LB here sooner rather than later.

Honestly Zach Zimos is about the only other one I feel is a real threat to contribute. Giovanni LaFrance has the size but we have waited and waited on his emergence. Hayden Henry will play at the Sam some as he did this year but he isn't a difference maker. Zach Zimos has the speed and athleticism that he will play this year at the Sam and maybe sooner rather than later. We have to hop that we can land Sci Martin and Lakia Henry and then we have something to talk about. I really only see 4 linebackers on the list that we can hope contributes. You hope a guy like Deon Edwards might emerge, but with our lack of depth can't really say any of these guys are potentially guys getting asked to go elsewhere unless we get both Henry and Martin, then its possible but still not likely.

DB's- There are a lot of them and I am going to run out of words so here are my projections and later on I will explain why.

CB- Ryan Pulley- Britto Tutt or LaDarius Bishop
FS- Kameron Curl- Myles Mason
SS- Joe Foucha- Joe Catalon (hopeful here)
CB- McClellion or Gregory Brooks

Nickel- Adonis Otey or DeVion McClure

If we get Devin Bush I think he would project where McClellion is.

Down the road this group could potentially be NASTY.

Futurecasting-(best case scenario)

CB- Devin Bush-- LaDarius Bishop
S- Joe Catalon- Malik Chavis or Kameron Curl
S- Joe Foucha- Myles Mason
CB- Gregory Brooks Jr- Jarques McClellion
Nickel- Adonis Otey- Malik Chavis

This group could potentially be Loaded next year if everything goes exactly to plan.

I think Bishop and Chavis add elite speed to this secondary and I love the thought of having Chavis as a FS because you aren't going to be able to throw over him. Catalon also adds elite speed to the secondary, while Bush, Otey, and Brooks are the best group we may have ever seen come through here. Kinda reminds me (soley on body types and speed) some of those LSU secondaries Chavis used to have.

Projected Defensive Depth Chart:

DE- Mataio Soli------ Collin Clay-----------Zach Williams
DT- McTelvin Agim or Briston Guidry----- Isaiah Nichols
DT- TJ Smith or Enoch Jackson-------- BJ Ferrell
DE- Dorian Gerald-------- Eric Gregory or Nick Fulwilder

Will- Bumper Pool----------- Lakia Henry (wishful thinking)---- Sci Martin (Maybe)
Mike- DeJuan Harris----------- Andrew Parker
Sam- Zach Zimos------------- Hayden Henry

CB- Ryan Pulley- LaDarius Bishop
FS- Kameron Curl- Joe Catalon(hopefully)
SS- Joe Foucha- Myles Mason
CB- Greg Brooks or Devin Bush (wishful thinking)----- Jarques McClellion

Nickel- Adonis Otey or De'Vion McClure

Again this is a lot of speculation at this point but based upon what I have read and believe this could potentially be what it looks like.
