The food scene has really exploded and there are too many to mention, but here's a few favorites...
Expensive (all in The Gulch, near the arena):
http://mstreetnashville.com/restaurants/kayne-prime Great steak house that doesn't feel like the big chains. Try the Wyagu filet.
http://www.primanashville.com Steak and others with a Mediterranean flair. Run by one of Nashville's great chefs.
http://www.watermark-restaurant.com Southern influenced seafood and turf. The grit soufflé appetizer with Benton's bacon id their signature dish.
Trendy, less expensive, hipster places in Germantown:
http://www.butchertownhall.com My current new favorite. Texican cuisine done right. The second best brisket I've had. They specialize in smoked and grilled meats. A great local and international beer list.
http://www.rolfanddaughters.com The current trendsetter. It's difficult to get a reservation, but they save 1/2 the tables for open (community table) seating. If you get there at 5:30 you can walk right in.
East Nashville:
http://www.lockelandtable.com I love this place. Excellent value and fantastic food. The crispy pig ear appetizer is out of this world and the steak with green beans is a full meal in itself for $24.
Lastly, here's a video I did for the Vandy game a couple of years ago. Note that Fish and Co. is now closed:
