I turned on a game which happened to be San fran during the National Anthem. Saw the cameras 100% focused on peckerhead and immediately turned it off and haven't attempted to watch another since.

Same thing happened with baseball. I watched a game a night between the braves or the cards. Haven't watched a full game since the Lockout.

They can use all the arguments and excuses they can come up with to deflect attention away from the real reason.

I skipped last year because of players refusing to stand for the national anthem

And, I am fully prepared to skip this season.
I'm guessing 99.5% of players stood for the anthem, but you refused to watch because of .5. Seems like an over-reaction to a few.

a little fly in a pot of soup ruins it all for me...........but it is not that I mind players having a right to have an opinion, it is that I want entertainment for an escape. I think the NFL is more of a turnoff because millionaires acting like victims does not make me feel good :)

Agreed. Everyone was fine watching during the rash of drug abuse and beating of women. Kneeling for the anthem is unforgivable I guess.

A bit different in that we don't see the stuff you talk about, happening on the field at the game.

I don't think this is the only reason people are not all into NFL like they were but I am not an expert on this :)

Who pays the players, the owners. Who pays the owners? TV advertizing revenue. What determines the ad revenue? Viewership.

Viewership goes down, ad revenue goes down, etc etc.

If the owners wont do anything, perhaps peer pressure from other players will.

Political Correctness often overrides logic and common sense

At the end of the day the product on the field is what drives revenue. It is what makes the NFL so marketable. No one watches or supports because of the owners although they sign the paychecks.

I am not like many that are angry at the kneeling for patriotic reasons.......I just think it makes them look stupid and a waste of time.
If they believe they are picked on by police, they have power to do many things to address this that are much better than pizzing off police, veterans and fans by kneeling. IMO

I never watch ESPN anymore and never will! Hogs and Cowboys and Cards only and if there is ever a way to watch those without ESPN I will.

The police and veterans I know are perfectly fine wirth the kneeling. And none of them think its stupid or a waste of time.

I work out with some veterans and not a single one of them have anything but disgust for those that dishonor this country.

I edited this Woodshed. Shouldn't have even posted on this.

I can provide you their facebook information so that you can ask them yourself how true what Im saying is.

Woodshed I am so over fighting over this..Just no end to it but show me where a Veteran didn't stand for the Anthem? To me it shows you don't stand with this country...I will never change my opinion and you won't either.

I'm going to stick to Arkansas Football on here from now on. I will always stand for this country and with this country!

You came close to saying "I am not a racist. Why some of my best friends are...." :)
Every police and vet I know is VERY VERY against people going on national TV and dropping to their knees to say "Cops are bad"

But everyone has their own opinion. I just think there needs to be meetings and public gatherings and this is only causing anger.....solves nothing.

See I do not deny there could be a reason for the complaints, just don't see repeating last year's fad as helping

My fight isn't with you. It's with injustice. Good day.....

Woodshed......could you explain exactly what they are kneeling for......what they hope to get from it....and how effective has it been? Serious question, zero emotion involved. Just trying to understand

Everyone has a right to their own opinion... A lot of people agree with the kneeling and a lot of people don't... Politics and football do not mix and the ratings are proof of that. People attend/watch sporting events for entertainment and an escape from the grind of everyday problems in life... People don't want politics with their football... They do not want an entertainer telling them how they should feel about things.. By all means, support your beliefs. Just don't cry when the consequences of those beliefs start to affect you... People assume they can do/say whatever they want and nothing will happen, and that's simply not true...

Thats true on both sides of the debate. Always ironic when people preach otherwise.

NFL is the new target.
How long before people with clubs show up at games to beat NFL ticket holders like they are promoters of hate or whatever makes the clubbers feel justified.

Which vets you work with? I'm a vet. I wouldn't kneel but I have no problem with him protesting racial injustice. A wise person once said protest leads to progress.

Any rational person is against any injustice due to ones race, but what injustices in particular are we talking about here?

I also think everybody has a right to their opinion and should be allowed to voice their opinion but I too wish they'd leave it out of sports. It is evident with the ratings being down.

A bunch of rich entertainers have other ways to actually help the problem, IMO rather than kneeling at a football game. Again JMO

It didn't help CK's career at all that's for sure. He's also turned down several offers bc he thinks he's worth more than he really is. The guy has been privileged his whole life and got adopted by a good family which a lot of kids don't. I will say though, that at least he's putting some of his money into his personal cause.

I have a solution for everyone regardless of which side of the aisle you reside. Turn on the game about 5 minutes after it is scheduled to kick off and you won't know the difference.

I want the protest spelled out because this keeps getting boiled down to anti flag
