EDIT TO UPDATE AT 7:40 ...
It's official .... league owners voted 30-2 to allow the Rams to relocate immediately, the Chargers have options to move now, later, or remain in San Diego, and the Raiders will remain in Oakland.
Owners just wrapped up their meeting in Houston tonight ...
San Diego is the team that was going to get the most favor from the owners collectively, and JJ drove the compromised deal because the owners did not want the Raiders back in LA, so they had to find a way to break up the Chargers-Raiders Carson, CA stadium plan and JJ did that by getting Spanos to agree -- finally -- to partner his Chargers up with the Rams IF he decides not to remain in San Diego.
The Rams' owner already owns the land in Inglewood and has a grand $2.5 billion plan for a stadium and theater that can support the NFL Draft and other NFL events, so the league owners voted for that plan while convincing Spanos and his Chargers to join the Rams in LA if they choose to move out of SD, while leaving the Raiders back in Oakland ... now, SD can choose to remain in SD if they can get a stadium deal worked out in June, or they can either be a partner with the Rams or be their tenant in Inglewood, and they can move next year or 2017... and the league will help the Raiders bridge the gap between the money they have and the money they need to build a new stadium in Oakland.
