Hinske was retained after Joe Maddon replaced Rick Renteria as manager in November 2014. Long known as a good clubhouse guy during his playing days, Hinske actually drew quite a bit of interest before joining the Cubs, who originally drafted him out of the University of Arkansas in 1998 but traded him before he reached the majors.
