I think an objective view of his tenure here at best would described as "mixed". The first year his group made a tremendous turnaround. One of the best I've ever seen by a position group. His second year his group made another huge turnaround. One of the worst I've ever seen by a position group. Objectively speaking he had the same bunch back and they got worse. A lot worse. Some guys say well that had a lot to do with LB play. Well Trey that doesn't explain why the DB's guys were running open. And weak LB play didn't make the DB's tackle horribly. Other people say well Philon and Flowers leaving gave less pressure and stressed them out. Same points they flat out didn't cover as well, gave up critical deep passes and didn't tackle. On the recruiting front Clay Jennings accomplishments were decent. He got a few pretty good guys so you can't say he was a bust but he certainly was no stud recruiter either.
All told you can't be too upset he is leaving. Replacing his level of productivity on the field and in recruiting should be doable. If we get lucky, maybe somebody better on both counts.
