How many on the board are government employees effected by the shutdown. I am a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and we were given a guideline as to how our last paycheck before the shutdown will be allotted. I worked one week and one day of the pay period before the shutdown started, plus one shift of overtime, and after taxes, social security, insurance, retirement, etc. are all taken out, I probably will have no take home pay on this check.

Once the shutdown is ended, by continuing resolution or approved budget, we will be paid in full. However, this doesn't help with bills that are due during the shutdown.

I'm a consultant for the State of Texas and when we were going through our budget battles 2 years ago, there was talk of unpaid furloughs. But Texas has to balance its budgets unlike the Federal Government. So at least you will get paid.

My dads considered an essential federal employee, so hes been working everyday as normal, just not getting paid for it.

he did mentioned that there is some type of 10k, 60 day interest free loan available from credit unions. or something along those lines. luckily, he doesn't have to resort to that, but not everyone is so fortunate.

What is even dumber, some govt employees can apply for and receive unemployment benefits while on furlough but cannot get paid for actually working.

This Republican/Democrat pissing match has to disgust everyone on either side. Our government and politcians are worthless.
