on Friday, October 30th, I will be out of touch with my friends here at Edge to be with my wife as
she has the double mastectomy surgery and the initial surgery of reconstruction, anticipated
to last 8+ hours.

It has been a very difficult last 6 months since the initial diagnosis, and since
it has been over 6 weeks since they stopped the chemo treatments early after
it appeared that not only had the chemo beat her down but the cancer as well.

The MRI several weeks ago didn't show any sign of the breast cancer, and both the
oncologist and breast surgeon were, and are, optimistic about the chemo's success, albeit
being halted substantially before the cycle of treatments were originally scheduled
to last.

There was, and is, the fear between my wife and I that the long duration between
the last chemo and tentative mid-December surgery might allow the cancer to
regroup.

When we met with the reconstruction surgeon first this morning, the surgery
appeared to be scheduled forDec 18th, similar to the estimate given us 6 weeks
ago.

But the breast surgeon indicated that was too long between chemo and surgery
and has scheduled everything for one week from tomorrow.

At least she doesn't have to wait 2 more months for the journey to proceed.
I am excited that she doesn't have to wait for the next step, and I think
she is almost in a state of shock to wrap her mind around, in a matter of an
hour, going from 2 months to 1 week for surgery.

I again thank you all for your prayers and comforting words during our
journey down this path. I find great comfort thru my friends here at Edge, and
we are truly appreciative and blessed to have your support and prayers.

I will be at the Hogs game Saturday with my daughter, braving the elements
and determined to drive home Saturday afternoon basking in the joy
of a wet victory, and in the not-so-far recesses of my mind, anticipating
an even greater victory for the love of my life the following Friday.
