it doesn't take a genius to figure out, just some objective thought and common sense, that bashing a president, especially one of color, makes all of us look exactly like what many around the country perceive us to be; racists. I know it is an unfair perception, because most of us are not racist, but obviously no one should be offended that it is a reality that race relations in Arkansas are not what they should be either. I know most within our state are now Republican, especially since Obama was elected, but can we not get behind the president of our country and unite to show our support for those who are suffering? It's pitiful. This is what the office of the president does when disaster strikes. They visit the areas and show their and the nations support to the victims. A united front of support. I promise you, it wasn't just Republicans that were affected by the storms. Arkansans of every color and party were affected by the storm and we are all Americans. Several instate recruits have retweeted comments about people from Arkansas hating on the president, etc....Most notably, Will Gragg. KJ Hill, Chris Gragg and Jarius Wright as well. So, to make this a sports and Razorback related rant, the next time someone says that we have obstacles that other schools do not face, this is the elephant in the room when it comes to Arkansas athletics.

While the tone of your post is reasonable, your final thought and overal premise of this post is not. All fanbases have people that are ignorant. Arkansas' fanbase is not unique regardless of how many posts we see people suggesting otherwise.

Thought it was against board rules to bring religion or politics here. And though OP made a weak effort to make his post a Razorback sports post, it's not hardly that. I agree with the post, but rules are supposed to be rules.

While I agree with the substance of your post, I don't think that the Bama fan base is any less ignorant. And, they do fine.

not arguing that most don't, but you saying that everyone does still doesn't make our perception in Arkansas here any better or different. I think the retweeting of those comments by recruits is proof enough that it matters. It may not matter to you, but it matters to people of color.

people of all genders, race, and religion play sports, so, at times, it will cross paths.

I understand and completely agree that it matters to some/many. Doesn't matter who's right or wrong, it matters. It's the suggestion that Arkansas fans are unique regarding stupid fans that just doesn't hold water. I'm sure instate kids of other states have done the same with dumb fans of those respective states as well.

Bottom line here folks (to turn this back into a sports conversation) is win some damn football games and everything else matters much less...if at all.

I'm of the opinion that the real ignorant party/parties are those who automatically point to racism when a person dislikes or disagrees with another person who happens to be African-American.

Razorbark and original hambone get it......

I can't stand obuma in the least bit....and it AIN'T because of his color....as I love and have the utmost respect for African-Americans such as Condaleeza Rice, Ben Carson, Allen West, etc.....and MANY others. It ALL has to do with his policies and his disdain for America, Israel, and world FREEDOM......and his butt-kissing and adoration of all things muslim/socialist.

So no....racism has NOTHING to do with anything. QUIT throwing race out there every time Conservatives disagree with you....it only goes to show just how immature and intolerant you liberals actually are.....the epitome of a pot calling the kettle black....VERY hypocritical...in the highest sense of the word.

odumma(and his whore bosswife) is a clownshoe loser socialist libturd... regardless of his color;

i dont care if you are black, white, red, yellow, brown, etc...
if you are a PINKO commie, you are bad. I dislike the kennedys, clintons, and every other bunch of leftist morons just as much as odumma and any other libby, and they are all white.

How anyone, regardless of agreeing or disagreement, can stand there and bash a president for coming to a state to show his support and the nations support, in a time of need, is beyond me. There is something very deeply rooted in that kind of response toward an individual who sticks his hand out to help and your response is to spit in his face. Maybe it isn't racism, for you, some it is, but it is a problem within our society.

You are absolutely right. Many of our fans are too ignorant to realize this. Having lived outside the state for a couple years now, it is sad hearing what most of the nation thinks of Arkansas. I know that there are a ton of great people in Arkansas, but there are enough morons to give it a bad name.

Sp because Im a republican Im a racist. Is that what Im hearing? I didnt protest or call for one of the POTUS while he was in state but I understand why others did. And I dont doubt for one second that Repubs werent alone in doing so. The pres lest down a ton of Dems by not living up to campaign promises. The hope fizzled and reality set in.

As for Arkansas looking bad..... are you telling me that Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana come off better? They they dont have racism? That they are giants of the educational world? We as Arkansans have always done well when we dont care what the outside world has to think. Waiting time and energy trying to conform to the outside world holds us back from catching up with them in a wide spectrum of things we actually care about. Hes a lame duck president thats approval ratings are so low his own party doesnt want him campaigning for them..... and you question why some Arkansans want to protest the man......and somehow spin it into racism? Pathetic

Maybe he wasn't bashed for coming to Arkansas...

Maybe he was bashed for all his failed policies.. both foreign and domestic and his coming to Arkansas was simply an opportunity for people to protest all his failed polices, his lying, and his unkept promises.

And throwing the race card? Please, that's what liberals do when they are losing an argument.
