I have been having some real concerns about our basketball coach. His teams seem to, more than not, never play well until the end of the year. A couple games ago we lost to some pretty bad teams, now this game, we played great. You can't say it was just because we were playing at home either. We lost at home, remember. Looking back on Mike's teams here, this is a recurring theme.
Then I started thinking........what are some characteristics of a good head coach? Does he recruit well? Does he develop players? I look back on Mike's time here and can say yes to each of these, IMO. If all the players come back for another year (and all should) and with the incoming players, we should gave a VERY good team next year.........oh wait, did I just use the dreaded "we'll be better next year" phrase?
I like Mike as a person and a coach. I just don't like the late season bloomers his teams seem to have.
