thanks to all that reached out in my previous post, I appreciate it and I wanted to give you an update.
The good: surgery went well, ortho and PT feel great about it. We are back at home
The bad: once they got in there they did find she tore her meniscus too. So longer recovery and slower rehab now. She's in a lot of pain as you'd expect .
The cool: 3 things really
1. Just overwhelmed as a parent the outpouring of concern and encouragement she's received from all over.
2. All her coaches in every sport were the first ones there in the morning in pre op even before family members to visit her. Nurses even couldn't believe how many people were coming to see her.
3. Through a mutual friend, Alex Morgan reached out to her wishing her good luck and speedy recovery. She shared how she tore her ACL in a meaningless practice but would not be where she is today if that had not happened. You talk about firing up a young girl to have one of your idols reach out to you and knowing that they are keeping up with you and wants updates. Wow. Plus I think we've swung it where my daughter may receive a few items from the ladies on the women's US National team.
The funny: after the drugs started kicking in during pre op, she broke out into her unique rendition of "somewhere on the beach" by Dierks Bentley. Not sure the lyrics were right or that she'd winThe Voice, but her passion for the performance was duely noted throughout all the pre op rooms
The 3rd thing: you know about the knee, you know about the dog, well they say things go in 3s. So the last meal before the night of surgery, we went out to eat late. Got in before resturant closed, doors were locked as we were finishing up eating. Someone came to the table and said, do you drive a ....... I said yes, they said we just backed into you. I mean really there are only 3 cars in the big lighted lot, 2 of which are mine and you hit my car. Geez
