We have a 10 year old Jack Russell that has been one of the best dogs I've ever owned. A little nervous about how he's going to react when his new brother shows up this afternoon.
When I was 4 years old my Mother bought me a black lab. He was my best friend and we did everything together. I came home from school one day(1st grade) and I couldn't find my best friend(his name was Pal). My Granny lived next door to us and she told me my mom would let me know where Pal was when she got home from work.
She got home and told me Pal was in heaven. I was crushed and sitting here today I still remember that day vividly. I cried for days and even stayed home from school for a few days. The vet told my mother that someone had poisoned my dog with Anti-Freeze. She would come to find out that it was some sorry azz people that lived across the street from us. My mother and father were divorced and my dad was a state trooper in Russellville. As soon as he found out about Pal he came to Hot Springs and had a visit with our neighbors. It didn't go so well for the father and one of his sons.
I've wanted a lab ever since I lost my best friend Pal. It seems like Christmas Eve around here today. My wife and kids are going stir crazy waiting for our new family member "Dallas" to show up.
