In a recent interview with Coach Briles, he was asked how much of the playbook would be installed to start the season. He laughed and said, "we better have all of it installed, I don't see why we couldn't" We'll have all the plays installed to our guys to be successful. That's our job, how the players execute it? We'll just have to wait and see."
Is a small quote like this a sign of better times ahead? The previous staff had said at this time last year only 30% of the play book was installed. Even with practices being jacked up due to no contact, the players are all studying the plays, and seem to be learning them.
I just find this a little interesting, and maybe a good sign. Hell if the previous staff could only install 30% with having the players on campus, what would of been the case this year if they were still on staff? I can hear coach Morris now, "Well we've only installed 5% of the playbook because we're dealing with a no contact issue."
I'm keeping my expectations low this year, but so far the coaches seem to be saying all the right things to see a brighter light at the end of the Hog tunnel.
