Proposal to the mods: A political thread from now until day after election?

Yeah, I'd be cool with the thread going to the grim bottom, no need to go back to the trough with that stuff. We have college and pro sports left and right, don't need filler threads where hate is spewed on the trough imo.
Agreed. At the time I was in the “if you don’t want to read it, don’t open it” category but there was nothing else to talk about.

You just want to say your phrase don't you?

I said i wouldn't say it. I dont get why people cant debate, give difference of opinions, and not get upset on a mrssage board. Not like anyone has to get involved that dont want to. Need something to liven this place up a bit. Just my opinion.

Why ask for permission when you can just start the thread and as for forgiveness later? Odd approach. At worst it gets moved to the Grimm

I will just take my account/money (and my 15 other accounts) and go elsewhere. Thought this was free country.

Thx,

jegreenwood, BigJoeGreen, jegreenwoodbrother, mawmawbrooks, mhhoover92, ffahog, dexter12, luvmhogs, hognoxious77, hawgwild79, and gthompson19 signing out.
That's half our revenue man, please don't.

I’m not a fan, but @nikkichavanelle is the boss.
Honestly, I agree.

If you want to talk politics, I recommend going to the MB. I understand I made a political jab this morning, but it was in response and not in instigation.

We need to be homies, homies. Watching these SCOTUS hearings it is clear the vilification of society is unfortunately rooted in the media because all of these hearings, while rooted in passion, have been incredibly cordial and respectful.

The cop is so pissed right now.

This isn’t the place for that distribution. Additionally, if those emails are deemed valid, it will be talked on a much larger stage than the Bert.

Ok. So censorship is good, is especially good RIGHT NOW. Could only be the biggest story in our lifetime.

BTW, Pretty sure its all been validated, even though the MSM and social media refuse to publish it.

Shit is bout to hit the fan and BigDickDon has had this in his back pocket the entire time. Not sure of rules, but is there anyway that Biden's name can be pulled from the ballot and Kamala replace him? The damning evidence might put sleepy Joe over the edge. Could see him having a stroke or something similar.

The standards for a story being deemed valid are not consistent across the political spectrum.

We had a special prosecutor and an impeachment over issues with sources less credible than @jegreenwood 's realtor friend in Springdale.

Amigo, I don't think you're going to find a more read-up republican on this board right now than I. I don't mean to brag or assume, but more to say I want more than ever for there to be transparency in elections when lack of transparency has been parroted and fabricated throughout the last 3 1/2 years.

However, again, the Bert just isn't the place for it. It's not like it's censorship, it's just grossly volatile. Volatile to a point of making individuals frustrated at persons they would probably love to have a beer with if they met them.

Perfect example, @MR_ARKANSAS , this guy would probably be one of the people I would want to talk with the most on the board: scientist, hog fan, and obviously connected to the football team as he knows Olajubutu. However, our views on things that are exceptionally volatile have caused friction where, honestly, I assume there is great middle ground.

There is a time and a place for all things, The Bert is just not the place for that conversation. The great thing about the internet, even though some would restrict the information you speak of, there are infinite other places where that data is readily available and readily opined upon.

Cheers.

Good post. I concur.

of course the obvious solution here is to just not take things personally right?

I used to be all for it but now I’m not sure. No ones mind is being changed. Politics bring out the worst in everyone.

Exactly! There is no way that someone is still undecided and I doubt you'll see any post that says "You know, you may be right and just changed my mind on that subject". People will only double down with their nastiness towards each other.

if you and @MR_ARKANSAS like each other, dont let politics get in the way. Go be besties for the resties. debate and discussion, no matter the topic, should grow relationships IMO. All it takes is both parties being adults about it.

That's the problem. People can't be adults about it. I'm guilty of this as well. It's best to stick to sports here. There are plenty of political forums out there if you want to talk politics. www.reddit.com/r/politics might be a good start. Hell, even SECRant has a politics board - https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/politics/ - it's very "rivals main board-lite" for those that are banned from the Main Board.

I thought it might be interesting to have a discussion on the Arkansas ballot measures. Numbers 2 and 3 specifically. We did that with the casino measure in 2018 without issue.

No on 3 for me. Haven't decided on 2 yet.

Agreed. In a perfect utopia, we could all say things without animus and without perceived intent/bias to ultimately find any possible common ground or provoke change in thought.

However, a college football forum where individuals are able to create anonymous pseudo personas capable of fabricating information like knowing a coach's realtor - sorry @jegreenwood - doesn't quite feel like the environment of that perfect utopia.

no push for politics on this board from me, but not afraid of it either.

Start it up, I would like to hear some people flesh it out.
