Regarding Long Is Wrong

Doesn't matter. Long is responsible for nothing. He takes no accountability for the product on the field and as far as he is concerned we can go 3-9 for the next decade and nobody around here will care. It's like this Yankee moron has pictures of our fans playing golf with Satan or something. It used to be people were accountable when the product they are producing is the worst in their industry.

Next thing you know we will be grading CEO's on the productivity and profitability of their companies and Salespeople on how much they sell. You know, crazy talk like that.

To a large degree, Colonel, I think you hit the nail on the head. The big thing wrong today is College Sports are in fact, a big business. I suppose even in Knute Rockney's days, it was to some extent, but what a shame that inter collegiate sports has sunk to the level of a brothel.

And poor Grantland Rice would have to admit, winning is everything.

It's all about the money grab, and it started with TV contracts. You sell your soul for billions of revenue that winning doesnt necessarily determine. You can get rich by association. It is not unique to Long or Arkansas. Look around.

It is happening in Texas high school football now. Schools down there are raising bond money to build $50+ million dollar stadiums. Some high schools down there draw better than mid major colleges. High school football is next in line for the money grab and fans screaming for change every other year.

I don't need to go back two years.....

I don't understand what you are saying now....

j long took over a program that was 1 violation away from receiving the dreaded ncaa death penalty, lack of institutional control and repeat offender. since that time, he has risen to national prominence and the university is now off probation close to 1 year now. also the school is being mentioned positively in media circles. as a result, the university has administered buyouts in his contract in order to keep him and he, in turn, has done the same regarding his coaches.

the razorback's current struggles in 2 of it's main sports can be directly linked to recruiting quality athletes year end and out. a racism lawsuit, ncaa violations and probation, fans funding the flying of banners demanding a head coach's firing cast the university into a bad light nationally. a scandal, more bad limelight? another firing and new replacement(repeat)

the current coaches wife tweeted "karma" in response to treatment from the wisky fanbase and ironically that was the beginning of "our" current 6 game losing streak. i do believe karma has shown, that the sport programs mentioned, are suffering as a result of those events i mention prior. not just recruiting, turnover or turmoil, but the hidden reason and result.

opponents to these "facts" will disagree, but history is blind to the excuses and only records the events. recruiting is seen the answer, by most, to winning. history shows common threads among schools who struggle and those that don't. we are struggling.

the program can recover, but will take years and maybe even decades. firing a nationally respected athletic director and/ or a nationally respected coach IS NOT the answer. history proves IT as the reason we are in this boat to begin with and IT also provides the answer to recovery. i also don't care to debate as true or not for i know it as true, as a historian. SO THERE, lol
fyi, imo, fwiw

And that is so very true. Nobody remembers who finished last in the division, nobody remembers who acted with integrity, nobody remembers who was Mr. nice guy. Winning is the only thing that adds up to a hill of beans which is why Alabama is King of the hill and we aren't and probably won't ever be. Not with this lame leadership on the hill.

In the words of the immortal Al Bundy "It's only a game if you win. If you lose it's just a stinking waste of time."

lol, lol. al bundy, lol, really? not really known for his integrity, or life achievements, or being a father figure. oh the irony!! but yet he is the one cited as an authority on winning(?)

integrity is what got ark. ad j long the prestigious position of 1st chair of the new playoff system. last years sec division bottom dwellers? auby/ kentucky. why should hog fans remember them? they were our only 2 wins.
miles and saban are perceived as coaches with integrity. they might not be well liked by some, but i'm not aware of any public scandals attributed to them.

people in the know, see integrity where it thrives and in those who serve, institutions of higher education among one of many.
those who cite fictional tv characters, or entertainers such as rock musicians/ actors as role models? pretty well speaks for itself.
again, imo fwiw.

on a side note, we should start seeing the results of staying the course in year 3 or 4. in by year 6, we'll begin seeing the sustained result of staying this course, with consistent wins and an established, well stocked stable of athletes.
and then, if a coaching change is warranted? the new long term hire won't be part of a rebuilding process. hopefully it won't be another a flash in the pan, short term hire who immediately begins the cycle we are now experiencing.

Long may be here for 20 more years....

do we have to listen to you whine that whole time? He wins, you lose.

There are plenty of teams to pull for in Florida....right?

Who is it that you want leading our Athletics Dept? Who it the right HC for our program to get us to the top?
You do an lot of complaining, but no solutions, except find someone who will cheat and at all cost win. ....
(much like your beloved dmcrts in washngtn :)
Go Hogs!

Re: Long may be here for 20 more years....

Why respond to him at all? The guy rails against integrity....doesn't that tell you everything you need to know about him? Him hating Long just makes me like Long more.

Would you do business with him?
Would you want your kids being influenced by him?

No? Then why continue giving him attention? He's nothing more than a troll now.

Trych,

How soon we forget White man. Talk about chaos, from the day he stepped on campus to the day he was thrown off. He ran off a top women's bb coach to hire dike, that pretty much killed the program. He ran off the best TF coach that ever coached in college. How soon we forget. Long took us from bottom rung to top rung. If he would stand up to the SEC, he would be #1 AD in all the land.

Trych,
Yeah, it takes a lot of integrity to approve a hire, then lay it all on the most successful coach we have had in 4 decades.
It takes a lot of integrity to be around Slappy the Clown for 4 years and not realize he is nothing but a stumbling bumbling idiot who is no way shape or form capable of leading a major college football team.
It also takes a lot of integrity to float your name around about a school that has no interest in him (Texas is about winning), then parlay that into a large raise for himself. Yeah, there's lots of integrity involved there. A page right out of Hooties and Sextons playbook.

If the Yankee Carpetbagger actually had an ounce of integrity he'd resign for turning our program into a complete abortion.

But it is refreshing to see everybody is OK with being the league doormat.

As for people not wanting to doing business with me, I guess that will have to be your little secret. I don't have a six figure income by NOT being productive. I'd have to go work in the Arkansas Athletic Dept. to get that luxury. Where I work people expect production, not lame azz excuses. The real work world doesn't give out 4 year free passes in productivity.

You people do realize these games count in the standing and in the record books as well don't you? Why it OK to throw away the next 4 years under the guise of rebuilding a team that was top 5 two years ago is beyond me and a complete joke.

Re: Long may be here for 20 more years....

Since you addressed me directly I will respond, but I know better than to expect any kind of positive response.

Your post is just more of the same drivel you've been spouting since we've started losing. It's all half-truths and propaganda.

As for your 'real work world' comments, I do very well myself, and I've done it all with integrity. You can do just fine out in the world doing things the right way and I know my clients appreciate it because they come back. You saying otherwise is simply rationalizations for your own actions.

Trych,

Hogalism: I have tried to practice Esthetic Dentistry; and some Medicine with integrity for 42 years [now retired] All it has given me is the greatest feeling of satisfaction that one can experience, save being a good parent. During those 42 years I
have never been sued for malpractice, in a very good part to not lying or making promises that I could not in reality keep.
If you do not have integrity, your word means literally nothing, and can have no pride in honest accomplishment. You are right on literally every level of life. If a parent does not try their very hardest to instill integrity in their children, then they are certainly not good parents.

Porknoxville: If in your post you are asserting that democrats are any more liable to cheat, than republicans, you certainly not a student of American history, nor are you well informed on the politics of the last 30 years of American Politics. See former gov. of SC, Mark Sanford, now, after stealing from and lying to his constituents, he has been elected as Senator from the great state of, you guessed it, SC. Lying and stealing is not the purview of either of the 2 main political parties in America

This post belongs on the grim bottom. You are correct about one thing, both parties are the problem. I come here because the two party system has taken over the TV, radio and news. So if you lie, cheat and steal for either party, please do it on the grim bottom board.

I know that when Democratic politicians are caught lying... The excuse I frequently hear is, "ALL politicians lie"

And good lord, look at how many lies Obama has told.

And, the current whopper, "If you like your insurance... you can keep it...PERIOD!"

I'm still waiting on him to close Guantanamo prison. If I remember correctly he said when trying to get elected in 2008 that he would close it down on day 1 of his presidency. His pants are on fire! But we all know that when the media is on your side and people think you're a least a decent person doing your best (even if you're totally incompetent) then you get a free pass.

Without the money to pay the bigtime bills for coaches, athletes and building competitive facilities, we ain't ship!

Long has been excellent on raising the $$$$$, excellent in hiring good head coaches, and is now perhaps the most respected AD in America.

The "get Long agenda people" in this thread don't have a clue.

Get over it or go get some hep!

You are correct about ONE thing, without the money, we aren't ship!

Bobby Petrino's success paid the bills that you claim Emperor Long raised. In the two years since Long ran off the best coach I've seen on our sidelines in 50 years, we've gone from the number 8 most valued program to 12th and that number will continue to fall while we remain the laughing stock of the SEC. The rest of the league has moved on and we march on trying to play stone age football we thought we got rid of with Nutt.

The biggest eye opener of this whole aborted ordeal is how so many of our fans couldn't give a crap if we are 11-2 or 3-9. It is truly amazing how Jeff Long has transformed us from a top 5 program into a complete abortion and what he gets from most of the lemmings is a pat on the back and raises. I've never seen such loser attitudes in my entire life. Back when winning actually mattered Frank demanded more. A 6 won season got Lou Holtz fired in those days. Now we paid Bert 1.2 million per all his lame victories while the guy can't won ONE DAMN SEC game!

LOSERS permeate our program from top to bottom and it is just a damn shame.

You blame Long for firing Petrino...

Why don't you give Long credit for hiring Petrino?

Do you remember what fine shape Louisville was in after Bobby left? Bobby left a disaster in his wake at both Louisville and Arkansas.

And you know good and well...Petrino fired himself. He put his mistress on the payroll... He paid her a bonus that was forbidden under his contract. Then, he lied to Jeff Long.

Can't we just give BB a chance?

What positive comes out of making life more difficult for BB? IMO, him your full support until it becomes obvious that he's not getting the job done and then you part companies. It's not fair to hire an employee and not give them everything they need to be successful... You certainly wouldn't want your boss to give you a job and then not give you the tools and resources to get it done... Would you?

Long was to busy trying to hire T Bowden or Jim Grobe to set his sights as high as Bobby Petrino. The best coach we've had in 50 years had to fall squarely in this idiots lap to get him on board. Long also is the one who handed to keys to a Ferrari to a bumbling moronic bankrupt man. I guess that was a great decision as well in the eyes of Longs lemmings?

Petrino had CONSENSUAL SEX. Nothing more. Why can't you people seem to separate a mans personal life from his coaching life? Get back to me when he breaks some laws or has a ton of NCA violations. I guess ass long as people want to delve into a mans personal life we will always find dirt to dig up. Bert drinks like a fish and is a social media moron who found his wife working a high roller room in Vegas. That is a hell of a lot more embarrassing to me that a red Blooded American male getting a little. I'd rather be packing my bags right now for Dallas or New Orleans as I did with a real coach in place but I guess being the worst team in the league is OK too.
rolleyes.r191677.gif

As for BB, I didn't want him here in the first place and after watching him coach (if that is what you want to call it) 12 games, I saw nothing to change my mind. Or his "karma' wife who is too stupid to know when to keep her mouth shut. Just like Nutt, his stone age offense and play not to lose mentality is going to product nothing here but 4-5 win seasons. It's already produced the worst season in my 50 years of lifetime. Some of us know when to simply cut bait but losing has become so acceptable in the last two years I don't think anybody really cares anymore.

I've just come to the conclusion that any decision the Moronic carpetbagger makes will be excused off in the name of integrity and all the minions will line up like lemmings to support it. We've now become comfortable being the worst of the worst. I blame the fans who allowed this idiot to bury our once proud program. And after the worst season in my lifetime we give the Carpetbagger a big fat raise. Perhaps it's the "big money" people making the decisions who simply don't think winning games matter anymore? Either way, were screwed until we get an administration with a freaking clue in place.

I guess it's going to take Razorback stadium with 40,000 people sitting in it to get the money people to take notice. That's coming and its coming soon.
