And that is so very true. Nobody remembers who finished last in the division, nobody remembers who acted with integrity, nobody remembers who was Mr. nice guy. Winning is the only thing that adds up to a hill of beans which is why Alabama is King of the hill and we aren't and probably won't ever be. Not with this lame leadership on the hill.Originally posted by bobhawg:
To a large degree, Colonel, I think you hit the nail on the head. The big thing wrong today is College Sports are in fact, a big business. I suppose even in Knute Rockney's days, it was to some extent, but what a shame that inter collegiate sports has sunk to the level of a brothel.
And poor Grantland Rice would have to admit, winning is everything.
Yeah, it takes a lot of integrity to approve a hire, then lay it all on the most successful coach we have had in 4 decades.Originally posted by Trychinosis:
Why respond to him at all? The guy rails against integrity....doesn't that tell you everything you need to know about him? Him hating Long just makes me like Long more.
Would you do business with him?
Would you want your kids being influenced by him?
No? Then why continue giving him attention? He's nothing more than a troll now.
Trych,
You are correct about ONE thing, without the money, we aren't ship!Originally posted by BB's Pig Man:

Long has been excellent on raising the $$$$$, excellent in hiring good head coaches, and is now perhaps the most respected AD in America.
The "get Long agenda people" in this thread don't have a clue.
Get over it or go get some hep!
You blame Long for firing Petrino...Originally posted by Colonel Porker:

Bobby Petrino's success paid the bills that you claim Emperor Long raised. In the two years since Long ran off the best coach I've seen on our sidelines in 50 years, we've gone from the number 8 most valued program to 12th and that number will continue to fall while we remain the laughing stock of the SEC. The rest of the league has moved on and we march on trying to play stone age football we thought we got rid of with Nutt.
The biggest eye opener of this whole aborted ordeal is how so many of our fans couldn't give a crap if we are 11-2 or 3-9. It is truly amazing how Jeff Long has transformed us from a top 5 program into a complete abortion and what he gets from most of the lemmings is a pat on the back and raises. I've never seen such loser attitudes in my entire life. Back when winning actually mattered Frank demanded more. A 6 won season got Lou Holtz fired in those days. Now we paid Bert 1.2 million per all his lame victories while the guy can't won ONE DAMN SEC game!
LOSERS permeate our program from top to bottom and it is just a damn shame.
Long was to busy trying to hire T Bowden or Jim Grobe to set his sights as high as Bobby Petrino. The best coach we've had in 50 years had to fall squarely in this idiots lap to get him on board. Long also is the one who handed to keys to a Ferrari to a bumbling moronic bankrupt man. I guess that was a great decision as well in the eyes of Longs lemmings?Originally posted by original hambone:

Why don't you give Long credit for hiring Petrino?
Do you remember what fine shape Louisville was in after Bobby left? Bobby left a disaster in his wake at both Louisville and Arkansas.
And you know good and well...Petrino fired himself. He put his mistress on the payroll... He paid her a bonus that was forbidden under his contract. Then, he lied to Jeff Long.
Can't we just give BB a chance?
What positive comes out of making life more difficult for BB? IMO, him your full support until it becomes obvious that he's not getting the job done and then you part companies. It's not fair to hire an employee and not give them everything they need to be successful... You certainly wouldn't want your boss to give you a job and then not give you the tools and resources to get it done... Would you?
