I had a thought this morning on how I think the university should go about reinvigorating AR High School Football.
First, I think the UA should start doing 2 day satellite AR football camps for younger ages through 7th grade. Pick Jonesboro, Little Rock, Fort Smith, Texarkana, Camden, West Memphis - 5 to 6 places and run 2 day camps. Have a mix of the coaching staff, current and former players work the camps.
Second, host qualification seminars for not only coaches but school counselors and let them know how they can help get kids eligible.
Third, begin a series of advertising (TV, digital) on winning a national title with the core message "only the state of AR kids can get us there".
Get back to selling that is important to play football. I realize that this message flies in the face of growing trend of parents timid about their kids playing football, but I think these 3 things would help reinvigorate high school football in the state.
