The walk-on backup RS-FR LT
Redshirt freshman walk-on [db]Johnny Gibson[/db] and true freshman [db]Colton Jackson[/db] are both working at left tackle behind [db]Denver Kirkland[/db].
“They’re both doing a good job, but I’m going to tell you, Johnny Gibson’s really, really had a good first five days,” Pittman said. “What’s been a surprise is how physical he’s been playing. He’s playing really physical.”
“He’s big, man. And he’s playing with leverage, and he will hit you. He’s starting to enjoy it, starting to like it,” Pittman said. “I overlooked him too [as a recruit]. I went down and watched him, this that and the other. On tape, he wasn’t impressive to be honest with you. But when you watched him play basketball you saw you had a big ole athlete. I think just now he’s decided he can play at this level, he can play in the SEC, and I’m telling you guys he can. He’s going to be a good player for us.”
